At Grace Community Church we value:

1) Recognizing Scripture as the authority by which we teach, preach and live

Guiding verses – Proverbs 30:5-6; John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17

We will always:

  • Trust the Bible as our daily instructor and food;
  • Seek to understand the original intent of each of the divinely inspired authors so that we can grow in our understanding of and submission to each passage (vs. holding onto interpretations that match what we want to believe);
  • Foster honest and energetic conversations about how Scriptural passages should be applied;
  • View Scripture as the final word in all discussions and the basis for all teaching and preaching, as it was time and again for Jesus.

2) Building a relational and caring community

Guiding verses – John 13:34-35; Romans 13:8-10; Galatians 6:2, Ephesians 4:2

We will always:

  • Love all who come to the church no matter where they are in their walk with Christ or their religious backgrounds;
  • Invite all to “come as they are”;
  • Encourage all congregants to be in a small group by ensuring an easy path to small-group involvement;
  • Care for each other;
  • Create a safe environment for people to speak openly about their struggles, failures and questions;
  • Offer events and programs that are welcoming and foster fun and fellowship.

3) Serving our neighbors to make a difference

Guiding verses – Mark 10:44-45; John 15:13; 1 Peter 4:10, 5:2

We will always:

  • Offer opportunities for congregants to practice their faith through service;
  • Share our facility with organizations in our community;
  • Allocate resources and funds to service projects and mission partnerships;
  • Encourage congregants to intimately know our neighbors near and far, be sensitive to their unique needs and share the gospel at every opportunity.

4) Investing in our families and in the next generation

Guiding verses – Deuteronomy 6:4-8; Luke 18:15-17; Ephesians 6:1-4

We will always:

  • Create and support an environment in which all generations are engaged and interacting;
  • Be intentional with our resources and energy with the next generation;
  • Equip parents to regularly have significant, loving, bidirectional conversations with their children about their faith and walk with Christ.

5) Wrestling together, producing growth

Guiding verse – Genesis 32:24-30

We will always:

  • Encourage congregants to work through all the complexities of an issue to come to a decision;
  • Achieve “aha” moments by talking through Biblical concepts;
  • Offer a variety of forums to help people grow in their faith.
