Miles for Missions 5K

logo with borderThanks for your support of Grace’s Miles for Missions 5K.

Despite cold and gloomy weather, we had a great turnout for our second annual Miles for Missions 5K.  A hardy group of runners raced the 3.1 miles, then headed inside the warm, bright church for sandwiches, hot coffee and cocoa, fruit and fellowship.

Many thanks to our financial, prize and raffle sponsors who helped to make Miles for Missions such a fun event.  Among them,  Douglas Carroll Salon, MedSpa and Boutique was not only our presenting sponsor, but donated several raffle prizes as well; Raleigh Running Outfitters supplied all of the runners’ prizes; Ward’s Produce generously donated cases of bananas and oranges; and Chick-fil-A Capital Crossing and Falls Village sponsored the kids’ fun run.

Thanks as well to the many volunteers who made sandwiches, served food, helped with registration, and braved the rain to set up for the race, monitor the course during the race, and clean up after the race.

Most importantly, nearly $5,000 was raised toward Grace’s local outreach efforts to support non-profits such as  Christian Library International, Resources for Seniors, Wheels 4 Hope and Raleigh Rescue Mission. In just two years, the Miles for Missions 5K has raised almost $11,000 to support local organizations working to end poverty, hunger and homelessness and to restore hope.

Race results are posted on  FSseries.com.  Please also visit the Miles for Missions Facebook page to see photos from the day.
